Parinaz’ philosophy as a physiotherapist is focused on empowering clients through education. By helping them understand their injury or condition, as well as the factors that caused it, she enables them to actively participate in their own recovery process. She believes in increasing an individual’s capacity to handle greater physical loads, which plays a key role in injury prevention. Her approach to healthcare is centered around a client-focused, holistic model. Her areas of expertise include musculoskeletal conditions (acute and chronic), sports injuries, prehabilitation for joint replacement surgeries, post-operative rehabilitation, back and neck pain, joint and muscle pain, tendinopathy and tendon repair, arthritis management, and manual therapy techniques (e.g., joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy). “I have successfully helped clients recover from injuries, manage pain, and restore mobility through tailored treatment plans. My holistic approach combines manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, and patient education to ensure long-term success and prevent re-injury. I also enjoy using Pilates-based exercises in prehab and rehab of clients, management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and general strength and conditioning.”

Pilates at Chermside

Pilates offers many different health benefits, but that means one size does not fit all. You need the right regimen for your health goals. At The Wellness Practice, we’re proud to be known for our personalised care. We know everyone has unique goals and needs. That’s why we have different classes for different ages, levels, and health goals.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, treating a chronic condition, or just looking to build your core strength, our practitioners will guide you in reaching your physical and mental health goals through the right regimen for you.

Conditions Pilates Can Help With

Our team in Chermside are well-versed in treating a wide variety of conditions. When it comes to Pilates, the following are just some of the benefits we can help with:

  • Improved Core Strength: Pilates helps strengthen your abdominal muscles, diaphragm, rotators, pelvic floor, back muscles, and more.
  • Posture: Pilates can help correct poor posture, strengthen the spine, and even improve spinal deformities.
  • Flexibility: With its benefits for strengthening and lengthening muscles, studies show Pilates provides for improvements in flexibility even after just one session.
  • Balance: Pilates is a holistic practice that focuses on your physical and mental well-being. Both help with bringing your body into balance. Improved core strength and breath control have many benefits, including improved balance.
  • Pain Relief: Many post-injury and rehabilitation plans include Pilates. It can also help with lower back pain from sitting in an office chair too long, pain from musculoskeletal issues, and more.
  • Injury Prevention: Besides helping with recovery from injuries, Pilates can help prevent them in the first place. Improved muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination can all help lessen the risk of injury – and Pilates can help with them all.
  • Emotional Health: Stress relief, higher energy levels, and improved strength are just a few of the emotional health benefits of Pilates.

How The Wellness Practice Is Different

At The Wellness Practice, we provide a one-stop solution for all your physical and mental well-being needs. Pilates can help across several of those needs, and whatever your specific goals, our specialists can help determine the right regimen for you. If your goals would benefit from other services in addition to Pilates, they’re available here too.

Have any questions before your appointment?

  • Do I need a referral for Pilates?

No, you can make an appointment directly with us.
  • Does Medicare cover Pilates?

Generally no, but they may be covered if prescribed by your GP.
  • What should I wear to Pilates?

Wear comfortable activewear that allows for a full range of motion. Avoid baggy clothing as it can get in the way. Grip socks are also a good idea for safety reasons. Avoid zippers, buckles, or belts.
  • What should I bring to Pilates?

Besides appropriate clothing, bring a water bottle and towel. If you have long hair, bring a headband to keep your hair out of your face. You do not need to bring a mat; we supply our own.
  • What is the difference between Pilates and Clinical Reformer Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is used for more specific conditions, such as recovering from an injury. The program is tailored for those conditions. Non-clinical Pilates is suitable for the general public, and has a broader focus on improving overall health.
